Last week, I took a trip to Cardiff to cover the 2013 Womex Expo, a trade fair which brings together musicians, promoters and record labels from across the world.
I was work for agency Branding Latin America who created the Peru stand, which showcased some of the best in the nation’s musical output and serving some great food to Expo attendees. One band represented was Cumbia Allstars, a supergroup of musicians from the original wave of Peruvian cumbia. The band is one of the most famous cumbia outfits in Latin America made up of former members of bands such as Los Mirlos, Los Diablos Rojos, and Los Destellos. Their WOMEX performance was met hundreds of music lovers dancing energetically to the infectious rhythms.
